The Governor and Mr Wilson spent four days visiting the spectacular Far South Coast of NSW, with highlights including a tour of Australia's Oyster Coast in Bermagui, morning tea with local recipients of National Emergency Medals and Bega Valley Shire Council members and staff, and seeing the wonderful supported employment and art programs at Tulgeen Disability Services' Riverside Nursery and Art in the Garage, in Bega.
They also met students and staff at Cobargo Public School, learnt about bushfire recovery projects in and around Cobargo from local community leaders, and enjoyed a BBQ with members of the Cobargo Rural Fire Brigade, before touring Barunguba-Montague Island Nature Reserve with NSW NPWS Rangers, meeting members of the Mogo Local Aboriginal Land Council to hear about the Fire to Flourish and other programs, and visiting Narooma High School, which included a smoking ceremony and tour of the school.
On the final night, the Governor and Mr Wilson hosted a Community Reception at Moruya SLSC, where they thanked and celebrated the extraordinary contributions of so many in the community. Weather prevented a visit to Mogo Trails on the following morning, but the Vice Regal Couple did catch up with Eurobodalla Shire Council representatives and other stakeholders to hear about progress on this important project, at Grumpy & Sweetheart's Cafe, in Mogo.
