In May 2023, the Governor visited Jakarta, which enjoys a sister state relationship with NSW.

During the visit, the Governor met with a range of Indonesian government officials, prominent local business leaders, members of the Indonesia Australia Business Council and the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce, and alumni from New South Wales’ educational institutions. The Governor opened the first New South Wales Education Expo in Jakarta, showcasing the world-class education available to international students in NSW.

“Indonesia and New South Wales share a strong and sincere friendship, and I am pleased to say that it is a friendship that is blossoming,” the Governor said.“With over half of the Indonesian students in Australia choosing to study in New South Wales and our State’s businesses increasingly looking at growth opportunities in Indonesia these are exciting times. It was a great honour to be engaging with Indonesian officials and leaders in business and education, to listen and learn, and to champion New South Wales”.
