In the morning, His Excellency the Honourable Andrew Bell, Lieutenant-Governor of New South Wales, presided at a meeting of the Executive Council, at Government House.

Later in the morning, His Excellency attended the Battle for Australia Day Commemoration Service, at The Cenotaph, Martin Place, laying the first wreath in honour of those who served on land, sea, and in the air to repel the direct threat to Australia between 1942 and 1945.
