In the morning, Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley AC QC, Governor of New South Wales, presided at the swearing-in of Mrs Aileen Jeanne MacDonald OAM as a Member of the Legislative Council, at Government House.

Afterwards, the Governor, accompanied by Mr Dennis Wilson, received Rear Admiral Jonathan Earley CSC, RAN, Commander Australian Fleet, accompanied by Mrs Eleanor Earley.

Subsequently, Her Excellency received His Excellency Dr Michael Pulch, Ambassador of the European Union to Australia.
