In the evening, as a consequence of Her Excellency the Governor-General being overseas, Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley AC KC, Governor of New South Wales, assumed administration of the Commonwealth of Australia.

Concurrently, the Honourable Andrew Bell, Lieutenant-Governor of New South Wales, assumed administration of the Government of the State of New South Wales.
