In the morning, Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley AC KC, Governor of New South Wales and Mr Dennis Wilson, as Official Guests, attended a Memorial Service in memory of the victims of the Granville Train Disaster, at the Granville Train Disaster Memorial Garden, Granville. Her Excellency and Mr Wilson placed the first wreath and scattered roses at the ceremony which marked the 48^th Anniversary of the tragedy.

In the evening, the Governor, as Patron of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, and the Sydney Festival, accompanied by Mr Dennis Wilson, delivered an address at the Sydney Festival performance of ‘Sydney Symphony Under the Stars’ at The Crescent, Parramatta Park.
