In the morning, Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley AC QC, Governor of New South Wales, presided at the Swearing-In Ceremony of the Usher of the Black Rod of the Parliament of New South Wales, at Government House. Jenelle Moore made the Oath of Allegiance and took the Oath of Office. The Usher of the Black Rod is the most senior protocol position in the Legislative Council of the New South Wales Parliament.

In the evening, the Governor and Mr Dennis Wilson attended ‘In Conversation with Ms Margaret Atwood’ and met with the author at a post-show reception hosted by the Consul-General of Canada, at the International Convention Centre.
