In the morning, Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley AC QC, Governor of New South Wales, accompanied by Mr Dennis Wilson, farewelled Her Royal Highness, The Princess Royal and Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence from Government House.

In the afternoon, Her Excellency received the Honourable David Shoebridge, Member of the Legislative Council, who tendered his resignation from the Council.

Later in the afternoon, the Governor presided at a meeting of the Executive Council. Her Excellency, with the advice of the Council, issued a Writ for the election of Senators for New South Wales.
