In the morning, Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley AC KC, Governor of New South Wales, as Visitor, accompanied by Mr Dennis Wilson, presided at the Investiture Ceremony of the Honourable Patricia Forsythe AM as the 8^th Chancellor of the University of Newcastle, in the Great Hall, University of Newcastle, Callaghan.

In the afternoon, with the departure of the Governor from the State, His Excellency the Honourable Andrew Bell, Lieutenant-Governor of New South Wales, assumed administration of the Government of the State of New South Wales.
