For many, the upcoming long weekend will be unlike any other. For our common good, the “Great Australian Easter Getaway” will become the “Great Easter Stay at Home”.
Gatherings of family and friends will see everyone in their own homes, connecting in the virtual world sharing their celebrations and traditions online. Easter and Passover Services will be livestreamed.
Undoubtedly, it will be a time that we will talk about in years to come.
For some, the days ahead will be spent at work. Frontline workers, health workers, service personnel, cleaners and carers will hardly take a breath.
How ever you spend your time over the next four days, as Governor of New South Wales, I want to say thank you, for all that each of you are doing, as we navigate the challenge of COVID-19. Your actions, big and small, make a difference. Your consideration of the greater good is literally saving lives.
To our little people, and not so little, have fun! The good news is that the Easter Bunny has been declared an essential worker.
To all, stay safe, distanced and healthy.
