This Australia Day come to Government House Sydney - the perfect location for a free, fun and family friendly experience.

WHEN: 12pm to 6pm, Sunday 26 January 2025

WHERE: Government House Sydney, Macquarie Street. Access on foot via the Main Gate at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music on Macquarie Street. No parking on site.

WHAT'S HAPPENING:

  • Live music courtesy of the Australian Army Band and the Royal Australian Navy Band 
  • Therapy dogs and a display of the work of Guide Dogs NSW/ACT
  • Sausage sizzle and cold drinks for sale by Normanhurst Scouts
  • Self-guided tours of the House
  • Dining Room Table display
  • Vintage cars courtesy of the Royal Automobile Club of Australia
  • Plenty of space to picnic in the picturesque gardens
  • Displays of vintage and current vehicles by NSW Fire and Rescue and the NSW Police Force Rescue and Bomb Disposal Unit

Escape to an oasis in the centre of the city’s harbour-side celebrations this Australia Day, for a free, fun and family-friendly experience at Government House, Sydney.

From 12 midday to 6 pm on Sunday 26 January, discover Sydney’s ‘Castle by the Harbour’. Explore the exquisite State rooms, picnic in the magnificent gardens, and enjoy the great music on offer.

The Governor of New South Wales, Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley AC KC, said “Dennis and I invite you to come and enjoy this special day at the House. The beautiful Eastern Terrace garden will be in full bloom, and our friendly guides will be on hand to show you around.”

The thoroughly entertaining Australian Army Band and the Royal Australian Navy Band will provide the soundtrack to a wonderful day out.
